DESCRIPTION:Miss D’s is excited to bring you our second year of offering Handi Quilter classes at the Jacksonville Quilt Show.   The classes will be offered in morning and afternoon sessions in three hour duration and will be led by a Handi Quilter Educator.  The classroom will be set up with 6 separate Amara 20s including Pro-Stitcher.  There will be no more than 2 students per machine\, this means a maximum of 12 students per class. \nOur classes are open to all machine brand owners.  The fundamentals being taught apply to all brands of longarm machines.  Occasionally\, the specific terms may be different\, but tension remains the issue for all machine owners.  Just like tension\, rulers are rulers and quilting outside the block applies as well.  So come join us. \n \nMary Beth Krapil will be our instructor this year.  She has been an avid sewer since childhood\, teaching quilting classes since 1998. Her goal is to share her knowledge and passion for quilting.  Mary Beth loves teaching the basics to new quilters and also enjoys introducing new techniques and ideas to experienced quilters. SUMMARY:12th Annual Quilts by the River\, April 4th - 5th
DESCRIPTION:2025 is the 12th year of Quilts by the River in Downtown Palatka. \nOur quilt show is a little different in that it is a smaller and more intimate affair.  You will have an opportunity to leisurely stroll through the quilts while admiring the techniques and uniqueness of each quilt.   Like other shows we do have a certified judge\, with categories and prizes\, vendors\, and baskets for bidding.   We hope through our show quilters and non-quilters alike will be inspired to continue the heritage of quilting and fiber arts. \nEntrance fee is $7.00 per person.  If you submit a quilt\, you automatically have free admission to the show.  To add to our event\, when you pay your entrance fee you will receive a Vendor Passport.  Bring it with you to the vendor show located at 301 Saint Johns Avenue\, receive stamps from all the vendors then enter the passport for an opportunity to win either a Gift Certificate to Miss D’s for $250.00 or $400.00.  Just a little more fun! \nAll entrants must submit one completed application form for each entry; the application form may be photocopied. Each application or must be accompanied with either a check or money order in the amount $10.00 made payable to Miss D’s Quilts.  All quilts must be received by March 28\, 2025\, by 5:00 p.m.\, or they will not be included in the event. Quilts may be mailed to Miss D’s Quilts\, 305 St. Johns Avenue\, Palatka\, Florida 32177\, or hand delivered to the same address.  Quilts must be submitted with a completed application form\, payment\, and must be enclosed in a fabric bag with secure means of closure. The quilt owner’s name and phone number must appear on the outside of the fabric bag/pillowcase. Each quilt must have its own fabric bag/pillowcase. Each quilt must have a 4” sleeve at the top of the quilt for proper display.  There must be no more than 90” from the bottom of the quilt to the sleeve. \nALL ENTRIES MUST HAVE:\n1. A LABEL stitched to the LOWER LEFT SIDE of the back of the quilt with the maker and quilter’s name. The label may be stitched or written in permanent ink. NO information should be on the front of the quilt. The label MUST MATCH THE APPLICATION entry form.\n2. A 4-inch SLEEVE must be on the upper back for hanging. The top sleeve should be no more than 90” from the bottom of the quilt\,\n3. Be submitted in a bag or pillowcase – CLEARLY MARKED with your name and the name of the entry.\n4. Be submitted with a LEGIBLE / COMPLETE entry application.\n5. A check payable to Miss D’s Quilt or cash for the submission fee.\n6. Twenty-six years ago Leigh was the owner of a marine canvas shop where she created upholstery from canvas and vinyl for a variety of settings. This is where she fell in love with sewing\, Leigh made clothing and accessories before finding her love of piecing and creating quilts. Quilting on a domestic machine for most of that time she finally moved to a stationary HQ Sweet Sixteen® long arm and then moved up to a HQ Forte® long arm with Pro Stitcher® Premium. Leigh worked for a local sewing gallery for the past 4 years where she instructed new owners how to use their new machines and/or software.  We are fortunate to have Leigh with her enthusiasm for quilting joining us at Jacksonville Quilt Show.

She created a project that will combine nearly every skill and technique we have covered to create one lovely wall hanging.  We are combining free motion with Pro-Stitcher Designer and Pro-Stitcher.\nIn the class you will begin with creating custom areas in designer and layout the flower arrangement in Pro-Stitcher. Then raw edge applique’ and securing all the flowers with free motion quilting. Knowing how to lay out the designs and using different techniques for a over all visual Art vest.\n\nSupplies needed A vest that fits you well\, or a vest pattern of your choice. As simple as possible without darts. Marking pen such as water soluble or chalk\, depending on the color choice of your fabric.
