SUMMARY:Serger Club\, 2nd Saturday of the Month
DESCRIPTION:Monthly Serger Club\n\nBy now you know\, I love my serger and love using it. This month for our October meeting\, we are making a three dimensional pumpkin. We will be working with several different serger stitches\, and a variety of whatever colors you choose to use.\n\n\nHere is a list of the supplies you will need to bring or buy it Miss D’s. If you wish to keep your pumpkin one color you will need 1/2 yard of fabric.  Two tone pumpkins\, will need 1/3 of each color. You could even bring an assortment of colors. You will need school glue\, 2 to 3 plastic drinking straws. Several Q-tips. A larger button and a small color fabric for your stem and leaves. \n\nI like to use Polyester fiber fill to stuff your pumpkin. If you have crazy\, Little used fabric scraps whatever you have to fill it up bring it along. Serger thread to match or contrast your fabric selections. You may want to do some hand stitching so make sure you have a few needles and thread to coordinate with your pumpkin. \n\nRemember to bring your serger\, foot pedal\, serger thread\, any extra serger feet\, and sewing supplies. If you happen to have a clear foot for your serger\, you may find that to be helpful. Lastly\, bring your threading guide and manual.\n\nMiss D’s does have polyester fill\, school glue and a variety of decorative threads that would be great for this project.\n\n\n\nI would love to see what projects you are making at home for show and share \, so bring them along. If you have any serger questions\, let’s try to figure it out together.\n\n\nPack a snack or lunch and a drink to refuel.\n\n\n\nI love my serger and I hope you will learn to love yours and use it more often. I hope to see you on Saturday\, October 10 at 10:00 AM at Miss D’s. SUMMARY:Serger Jacket\, Joan Friedrich\, January 16th
DESCRIPTION:We will be repurposing a black sweat shirt into a designer jacket.  Just in time for the chilly days of winter.  This jacket will be such a hit you will want to make more than.  In fact\, you will be making jackets as personalized gifts – from the heart of a designer.\nWhat to bring\n\nusing fusible thread\napplying elastic\, 3 different applications\nusing the 15mm double fold knit binder\nshearing fabric with elastic thread\nmore on the belt loop binders\ninside and outside corners\nand more.\n\nThis will be your time to ask how\, what\, when and where. \nBring all your feet and attachments that you have for your machine. I like the foot kits that you can get to go with your machine. They have a wide selection of feet to do all types of applications.\nThere will be 4-5 projects that will be revealed at the retreat so you will have a sample. There is a notebook with all the stitch out pages for the feet and attachment. Along with fabric to stitch out each technique that will be presented. She started sewing the age of 6. And has been sewing ever since. When she was in high school she took home economics and started sewing her own clothes. Joan sewed as a young mother and wife but did not pursue a career until the mid-80s. She learned how to quilt and started teaching guilt classes. In 1994 she bought her first Baby Lock serger. Joan learned to use the serger for piecing quilts\, home deco projects and making clothes. In March of 2000 she became a National Baby Lock Educator teaching around the country. She likes all aspects of the sewing world has to offer these days. She has become a master of the serger and offers technique and project classes. Being a quilter for many years her love for quilting is very passionate. Some of her accomplishment are: being a guest on the Nancy Zieman show when she created Serger crochet. In 2002 she became a Certified Martha Pullen license instructors for Baby Lock. Teaching at the Nancy Zieman Sewing Retreat has inspired her to make projects for various levels of sewers. She resides on a working farm in northern Alabama. \n                 \nPlease note the start time of the class\, out of respect and courtesy for all attending\, plan to arrive at least 30 minutes early so that you might be set up and ready to go at the start time.  If you need any assistance moving\, loading\, and setting up your machine\, please let us know. \nPlease note:  Classes must be paid in advance\, you are placed on wait list until class fees are paid.  Cancellations will be accepted until 7 days prior to class\, you may be offered the option of store credit or refund.  Miss D’s will work with you every way possible.  No refunds or store credit available after this date.
