And in July we will use either the same design we used in June or get a new “reverse Applique” for your Notebook Cover. Your cover will be made from cork.\nThe designs are from OESD under notebook covers. If you can’t find them\, let me know and I’ll see if I can help.\n\nBoth the pillow cases and the notebook cover make a great gift for almost any occasion.\n\nMaterials needed: (Miss D’s has the supplies in shop if you don’t have it in your stash.)\n– cork – 1 piece 11″ X 7.5″ – outside cover\n– cork – 2 pieces 3″ X 7.5″ – inside flaps\n– 1 piece fabric – 11” x 7.5” for inside lining* •\n– 1 piece fabric – 5.5” x 7.5” for reverse applique\n– 1 reverse applique design (I used the same one I used on my pillow case).\n–  Wash away stabilizer\n– tear away stabilizer for hooping\n– hoop – big enough for your design.\n– Embroidery machine\, sharp scissors\, thread to match\, pedal\, cord or machine\, etc.\n\nNote –\n– back all fabric with 101. SUMMARY:12th Annual Quilts by the River\, April 4th - 5th
DESCRIPTION:2025 is the 12th year of Quilts by the River in Downtown Palatka. \nOur quilt show is a little different in that it is a smaller and more intimate affair.  You will have an opportunity to leisurely stroll through the quilts while admiring the techniques and uniqueness of each quilt.   Like other shows we do have a certified judge\, with categories and prizes\, vendors\, and baskets for bidding.   We hope through our show quilters and non-quilters alike will be inspired to continue the heritage of quilting and fiber arts. \nEntrance fee is $7.00 per person.  If you submit a quilt\, you automatically have free admission to the show.  To add to our event\, when you pay your entrance fee you will receive a Vendor Passport.  Bring it with you to the vendor show located at 301 Saint Johns Avenue\, receive stamps from all the vendors then enter the passport for an opportunity to win either a Gift Certificate to Miss D’s for $250.00 or $400.00.  Just a little more fun! \nAll entrants must submit one completed application form for each entry; the application form may be photocopied. Each application or must be accompanied with either a check or money order in the amount $10.00 made payable to Miss D’s Quilts.  All quilts must be received by March 28\, 2025\, by 5:00 p.m.\, or they will not be included in the event. Quilts may be mailed to Miss D’s Quilts\, 305 St. Johns Avenue\, Palatka\, Florida 32177\, or hand delivered to the same address.  Quilts must be submitted with a completed application form\, payment\, and must be enclosed in a fabric bag with secure means of closure. The quilt owner’s name and phone number must appear on the outside of the fabric bag/pillowcase. Each quilt must have its own fabric bag/pillowcase. Each quilt must have a 4” sleeve at the top of the quilt for proper display.  There must be no more than 90” from the bottom of the quilt to the sleeve. \nALL ENTRIES MUST HAVE:\n1. A LABEL stitched to the LOWER LEFT SIDE of the back of the quilt with the maker and quilter’s name. The label may be stitched or written in permanent ink. NO information should be on the front of the quilt. The label MUST MATCH THE APPLICATION entry form.\n2. A 4-inch SLEEVE must be on the upper back for hanging. The top sleeve should be no more than 90” from the bottom of the quilt\,\n3. Be submitted in a bag or pillowcase – CLEARLY MARKED with your name and the name of the entry.\n4. DESCRIPTION:We normally have our Embroidery Club meeting on the 1st Saturday of each  month.  Due to unforeseen circumstances we have moved it to the second Saturday.  Each month Betty works to bring you embroidery designs that help you expand your knowledge of embroidery machine and its capabilities.\nOur embroidery classes are open to all brands of machines.\n\nWhat you need to bring :\n– sewing machine\, embroidery and a foot pedal\n– a good variety of threads\n– handful of scraps for applique.\n– all your feet including the ones for your machine – make sure you have a “Q” foot an ankle and an A B or C foot.\n– cords for the machine\n– a 100 X 100 and  a 130 x180 hoop. If you don’t have either of these hoops\, bring your smallest and next to the smallest hoops you have.\n– tear-a-way stabilizer and 101 backing. Ms. D carries both of these items. (Instead of 101\, you can use wonder under)\n– a stick for your designs. There are no designs to buy\, you will either use one you have or draw one yourself. DESCRIPTION:Creating a Unique Designer Sweatshirt on the Long-Arm\nThis month Iris has really out done herself. She created a project that will combine nearly every skill and technique we have covered to create an original sweatshirt jacket on the long-arm.  We are combining free motion\, and rulers\, with Pro-Stitcher Designer and Pro-Stitcher.\nIf you don’t have Pro-Stitcher no need to worry\, you can use free motion and rulers to finish your design.  Or\,\njust go to the Handi Quilter website and download the Pro-Stitcher software onto your lap top.   It is not necessary to purchase the software\, this download is free.  This is a fun project and a great way to learn something new.\n\nClass is open to all long-arm owners regardless of  place of purchase or machine brand. \nRemember this is will be largely lecture and at-machine demonstration.  You will receive the pattern and instructions to complete the jacket on your own.  Plus\, Iris has created a design specifically for the jacket which you will receive free. \nThe sweatshirt should be a men’s style (no raglan sleaves).  We think you will find them to be excellent Christmas gifts. \n   \nBy attending class\, you will receive this lovely quilt pattern for free. \nClass times:  10:00 am – 4:00 pm\nLunch:  included in class fee\nFee:  $80.00 \nPlease bring pen and paper to take notes.  Also\, bring your laptop with Pro-Stitcher Simulator installed.  In class we plan to utilize the software.  If you don’t have Pro-Stitcher\, not to worry. \nIn the past we have demonstrated unique projects which would enable you to learn new techniques\, use your software to its fullest and perhaps a make a little money along the way.  So\, for you crafters\, this project meets all those requirements.

DESCRIPTION:To quote “A Kaleidoscope Quilt is a symmetrical quilt that takes its design features from the intricate patterns inside a kaleidoscope. Twenty-six years ago Leigh was the owner of a marine canvas shop where she created upholstery from canvas and vinyl for a variety of settings. This is where she fell in love with sewing\, Leigh made clothing and accessories before finding her love of piecing and creating quilts. Quilting on a domestic machine for most of that time she finally moved to a stationary HQ Sweet Sixteen® long arm and then moved up to a HQ Forte® long arm with Pro Stitcher® Premium. Leigh worked for a local sewing gallery for the past 4 years where she instructed new owners how to use their new machines and/or software.  We are fortunate to have Leigh with her enthusiasm for quilting joining us at Jacksonville Quilt Show.
