Handi Quilter Event, Jacksonville Quilt Show, Sept 18 – 20, 2025

Miss D’s is excited to bring you our second year of offering Handi Quilter classes offered at the Jacksonville Quilt Show. The classes will be offered in morning and afternoon sessions in three hour duration and will be led by a Handi Quilter Educator. The classroom will be set up with 6 separate Amara 20s including Pro-Stitcher. There will be no more than 2 students per machine, this means a maximum of 12 students per class.
Our class offerings are in draft and will be finalized soon, the classes below were presented in 2024.
Thursday, September 18th
Morning class 9:00 – Noon; 1A-HO: Longarm Bootcamp (3 hours)
- Class Description: Does longarm quilting interest you, and you’d like to learn more about it? Or do you just want review of longarm quilting basics? This class will cover the basic elements and features, how to load a quilt, and vital facts about thread, needles, and tension.
Afternoon class 1:30 – 4:30; 2A-LD: Sweet and Simple Free-Motion Quilting (3 hours)
- Class Description: Quilters everywhere LOVE the excitement and fun of free-motion — and it’s easier than you think! Learn how drawing and muscle memory contribute to beautiful free-motion quilting, and how you can create stunning designs.
Friday, September 19th
Morning class 9:00 – Noon; PS-HO1: Pro-Stitcher Basics (Hands on) (3 hours)
- Class Description: Pro-Stitcher is an intuitive computer-guided system designed especially for use with Handi Quilter lomgarm quilting machines. User-friendly and simple to operate, the step-by-step process for each function is easy and fun. Whether finish your own quilts or consider a quilting business, come see the elegant and precise quilting you can accomplish with Pro-Stitcher.
Afternoon class 1:30 – 4:30; 3A-HO: Radical Rulers (3 hours)
- Class Description: If you love precision and consistency in your quilting rulers, you will love using design rulers and templates! Learn to handle rulers and templates safely with the ruler base and Sure Foot, and how to achieve accuracy with the markings. The wide variety of Handi Quilter rulers will inspire you to new design heights.
Saturday, September 20th
Morning class 9:00 – Noon; WS-HO1: Background Fills and Beyond (3 hours)
- Class Description: Interested in building a library of designs you can use with confidence? In this workshop, you’ll identify shapes you already love to quilt, learn how to create pathways to connect designs, and explore using different threads to really make your background fill quilting pop.
Afternoon class 1:30 – 4:30; WS-HO3: Finding Your Path
- Class Description: Laying out designs using gridwork creates even spacing and uniformity in quilting. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to make your own stencils, explore designs that work well within grids, and tips and tricks for marking grids on your next quilting project.
