Wilmington Batiks is thrilled to present this new Block-of-the-month program featuring the fabulous Violet Crush batik collection. The beautiful batiks in Violet Crush are colored in dusty “denim” blues with rich purples ranging from pale orchid to very dark aubergine. The quilt for this 9-month program features 12-in blocks including 4-patch stars, log cabin blocks, a 9-patch block and a couple of “hybrid” blocks that combine elements of both 4-patch and 9-patch designs. The square layout has multicolored sashing and cornerstones to accentuate the overall design. It’s finished with simple outer borders. The quilt is 103” x 108” – a very generous queen with a side drop of about 21”. At this size, it can easily be enlarged to a king quilt by enlarging the last border (especially the sides). There are some slightly challenging blocks though all are separated by sashing so even quilters with limited experience can find it achievable.

The pattern used for this project is only available through the Block-of-the-month.
Each month you have the option to attend class via Facebook and/or in-person in the shop. The Facebook group is available to all members of the Block-of-the-month even if you attend in person at the shop. The Group will be established prior to the 9th of October and you will invited to join the first week of October, 2024. You will be able to share your progress, suggestions for fellow members, and to ask questions through the Facebook group. All post to the Facebook group will remain until one month after the series is complete. So if you can not join us on Wednesday, you still have the option to access the instruction and information on Facebook at your convenience.

Supplies we recommend are: Creative Grid Log Cabin Ruler and Creative Grid Flying Geese Ruler, or Deb Tucker Wing Clipper and Deb Tucker Trimmer, wool pressing mat, and a straight edge ruler at least 12 1/2″ in length. During the class Jean will introduce you to the Accuquilt cutter.
This is a subscription program, you understand by joining you will be billed $41.00 on the 1st of each month for both your block pattern and fabric.
Your instructor for the program is Jean Genton. Jean has been quilting and sewing her throughout her life. She is a Sulky Educator, a Certified Quilt in a Day instructor, and an Accuquilt Ambassador plus she is quite the accomplished teacher of Annie’s Bags. Jean has taught prior Blocks-of-the-Month at Miss D’s and is one our student’s favorite teachers.
